3 Effective Ways to Avoid the Blogger Holiday Season Slump

By Chris Evangelista

Editorial calendars are fantastic. They are great with content distribution and they also help bloggers organize material. As much as I want to follow schedule, there are times when I just can’t. The holiday season is one of those moments. I find myself taking more breaks to make hot cocoa, put up the Christmas tree, go out and do more Christmas shopping, watch Elf on TV and other fun holiday related activities. Then comes the second week of January, I look at my progress for December and I realize that I only posted 2 things. It’s not a good feeling.

This holiday season, I found 3 ways to stay active with content circulation. It’s not exactly groundbreaking. It’s really just common sense- the light bulb just recently lit up. When I don’t have as much time to brainstorm about what to write, I make it my purpose to involve my readers in my holiday shenanigans. So, what are the 3 ways you can avoid a blogger holiday slump?

  1. Come up with a holiday gift guide series (like the one we have)- Not only will you be adding to your blog’s content, you’ll also get to find out great deals on gift items (and maybe even do some online shopping!). Check out gift ideas for your Taylor Swift obsessed friend here.
  2. Document your holiday shopping- If you really don’t have the time to write anything, I suggest taking pictures of cool things or places you come across when you’re out shopping. Sometimes, it’s okay to let photographs speak for themselves. Check out our 5th Avenue chronicles here.
  3. Rant about whatever holiday related thing you’re thinking about- Like what I’m doing right now.

The mentioned methods has been working well for me. I hope it will work you my fellow bloggers as well.
